He is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner and younger brother of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal as he was named at birth has a massive fan following who like to call themselves 'Gyllenhaalics'. He first wowed audiences in the mysterious movie "Donnie Darko".
