Plot:
This retelling of Robert O'Connor's popular novel about a group of young U.S. soldiers in West Germany just before the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall stars Joaquin Phoenix as Army Sgt. Ray Elwood, a street-smart soldier who deals drugs, steals supplies, and has a thriving black-market business with his GI pals. But a new top sergeant (Scott Glenn) will have none of the corruption and works to clean up the unit, to the dismay and irritation of Elwood, who elects to retaliate.
