Almighty, then! After getting all misty-eyed in The Majestic, Jim Carrey returns to his Ace Ventura and Liar Liar self with this God-fearing flick. Carrey's a middle-class newsman (who just happens to be dating hottie Jennifer Aniston) who thinks that the Man Upstairs is keeping him down. And when he complains a wee bit too much, God takes a break and lets Carrey take over--superpowers and all. But will he use his supremacy for himself, the greater good--or to crack grade-school jokes? All of the above, as the funnyman's back to making faces, doing impressions and generally making an ass of himself. In the end, it ain't godhead comedy, and the flick can't resist squeezing in a little bit of sentimentality at the end. But if you're looking for a decent Jim Carrey flick, consider your prayers answered.
