Overview

The story will follow a detective (Will Smith) investigating a crime that may have been committed by a robot, though the three laws of robotics — created by Isaac Asimov — would seem to contradict that possibility. The laws state that robots may not hurt a human being or let a human being be hurt by not acting; robots must follow orders given to them by humans, unless those orders would result in a violation of the first law; and robots have to protect themselves, again unless that would break either of the first two laws.
