Kevin Kline, a major actor who should know better, does the Robin Williams thing as Mr. Hundert, a classics prof who uses the Greek and Roman emperors to build character in young minds. One pupil (Emile Hirsch) is impervious to Mr. Hundert's opus. Even twenty-five years later, with Kline in old-age makeup, hard lessons are still being taught. Director Michael Hoffman sprays on the tears like a toxic mist. Avoid like the plague.
