The Fast And The Furious hunk Paul Walker has explained his reasons for backing out of playing Superman - he was scared. The 29-year-old screen star is one of a long list of actors who have been approached in recent months to take on the superhero role, including Josh Hartnett and Brendan Fraser. And while many people say the unfilled role, originally played by Christopher Reeve, is cursed, Walker admits he shied away from the offer because he wasn't prepared to commit. He admits, "I was scared. I don't know about the curse. It was just scary; it was a long term commitment. I was looking at seven years of being Superman." The casting problems have also left the film without a director after Rush Hour film-maker Brett Ratner pulled out of the project in March.
