A Beautiful Mind actor Russell Crowe is so committed to getting in shape for his new movie role, he's quit drinking alcohol for 63 days. The Gladiator hunk's change of lifestyle, to help him prepare for his part as a boxer Jim Braddock in Cinderella Man, has shattered his reputation as a hard-partying hell-raiser, and left him with a bizarre new addiction - shopping.

Russell insists he's now more likely to be found scouring the shops in Los Angeles with pregnant wife Danielle Spencer, who has been encouraging him to concentrate his efforts on buying things for their unborn child. Russell laughs, "I'm preparing for my role in Cinderella Man so I'm getting into shape and alcohol tends to put weight on. I now have a black belt in shopping. I've been buying clothes for the baby ever since I arrived in Los Angeles."
