Malcolm in the Middle's Justin Berfield is developing a biopic feature based on the true story of 75-year-old international jewel thief, Doris Payne for his J2 Pictures.

UPN's One on One creator, Eunetta Boone is writing the script about the woman who spent more than five decades stealing pricey baubles, Variety reports. Payne is currently in jail in Las Vegas for stealing an $8,499 diamond ring from a Nieman Marcus store in Palo Alto, California, among other charges; she is awaiting sentencing after striking a plea agreement with prosecutors last month.

No production schedule has been set for the film.
